Welcome to Portique Timeless Designs!
Portique offers hand-painted porcelain and a dinnerware Vineyard Collection of porcelain reproductions of original designs inspired by romantic Mediterranean vistas. The border treatments were inspired by decorative patterns handed down from early civilizations. Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Etruscan, Byzantine, Arabian, Turkish, Persian, Indian and other civilizations left behind unique designs that have stood the test of time. These designs can be found on architectural forms, art objects, walls, textiles, pottery, glassware and other relics of the past -- and now Portique porcelain products.
Porcelain was dubbed "porcellana" by Marco Polo, who in the 1200s was among the first Europeans to see this precious ceramic in faraway China. For centuries it was the domain
of Europe's royalty and aristocracy. Centuries later, porcelain is still the gold standard in dinnerware. It is less porous than ordinary ceramics and resists chipping and cracking. Many restaurants serve on porcelain because it withstands hard use and retains its high sheen.
Portique porcelain Vineyard Collection products are designed in the U.S. and manufactured in Europe. Portique pieces are designed to mix and match with the casual white porcelain dinnerware found in most better retail stores today.
